Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, yesterday attended a ceremony to unveil a memorial bench to commemorate the life of Cllr Lynne Hillan, the first woman leader of Barnet Council, who died last year after a long battle with lung cancer. Then bench is close to Brunswick Park School and Osidge library in the ward which Lynne represented for many years on the Council.
“Lynne was always such a good friend to me and I think it is great that Brunswick Park Councillor, Andreas Tambourides, has raised money for a memorial bench and organised this worthy memorial to a great lady. Lynne worked incredibly hard for Brunswick Park ward and it is fitting that there is now a permanent memorial to her in the area.”
“I always valued the advice and support I received from Lynne. She was a highly effective leader of the borough. The big turn out to unveil this memorial bench is an illustration of how many friends Lynne had. She is much missed by her family, her friends and her colleagues.”
