St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox Secondary School, is currently in talks with the Department for Education (DfE) and is hoping to secure a permanent site in Barnet at the North London Business Park.
Ms Villiers said:“I am delighted that the St Andrew the Apostle is considering a site in my constituency. I am strongly supportive of this project to create the UK’s first ever Greek Orthodox secondary school. Barnet has so many fantastic schools and this would be a great addition if a site can be found here.”
“The free schools programme is a Conservative initiative to improve schools in England. I am delighted to hear that there have been positive exchanges between DfE and the owners of North London Business Park about locating the new school there.”
“I also welcome the news that the school will be sponsored by the Russell Education Trust, which has already had widespread academic success. I believe that the new school will provide first class education as well as a great opportunity to celebrate Greek Culture. I very much welcome the fact that kids in my constituency from both the Greek Orthodox and other faiths will have the opportunity to learn in a school which puts strong emphasis on the core subjects of English, maths and science as well benefiting from a broader Classical Curriculum.”
